Please help Adeline Grace!

My 9 month old sweet granddaughter Addie Grace has a very serious life threatening blood disorder called Diamond Blackfan Anemia (“DBA”).
(Addie Grace, this is when we first found out something wasn't right with her.  She was only 2 months old.  She is so brave.)

It is a rare inherited bone marrow failure syndrome, characterized by a failure of the bone marrow (the center of the bone where blood cells are made) to produce red blood cells. This failure causes DBA patients to become severely anemic.  There are only about 700 cases in the world.

Every month this sweet little baby has to have blood tranfusions to keep her alive.  People with Diamond-Blackfan anemia have an increased risk of several serious complications related to their malfunctioning bone marrow.  There are many risk factors so for now we are trying to stay positive and focus on that.

(Adeline just received a blood transfusion and was resting on the way hom from the hospital)

Her medical bills are mounting up and I am asking that you find it in your heart to donate funds to help her parents pay for the out of pocket medical expenses. Although she has medical insurance, my daughter and her husband have already incurred about $8,500 of out of pocket medical expenses from last year to the current time. The out of pocket expenses will continue to rise.  I am hoping to raise funds so that they do not have to worry about those costs along with their daughter's medical condition.  My daughter Jessica is a teacher and my son-n-law Kris is a firefighter.  They both give a lot to their community and I know there are many people who would love to help them.

(Another Blood transfusion, but this sweet baby is still abe to smile.)

Last year Adeline was scheduled for a bone marrow biopsy but was not well enough to have it performed.  It will be scheduled for this summer.  She will continue to have blood tranfusions around every 3 to 4 weeks until the doctor comes up with a plan on how to proceed.  At some point she may need a bone marrow transplant.

Adeline is a happy baby,  She is so brave each and every time she goes to the hosiptial for her blood tranfusion. It breaks my heart for any baby to have to go through this.

She is so loved by her family!   Between blood transfusions she is happy and honestly she is one of the sweetest babies ever!  Her brother Tommy means eveything to her and he is always making her laugh.

Thank you for reading and if you would like to share this page on your facebook, I would truly appreciate it. Please keep Adeline and her family in your prayers!

Thanks!

This pucture below was the first time I was able to meet my sweet granddaughter.  Pure love!

Adeline with her Daddy on 2/13/17.  Getting a blood transfusion.  Always smiling.

Love this picture of Addie Grace with her dog Jack. :)

UPDATE:  3/21/17 - READ BELOW
Hi Everyone,

I have been getting a lot of messages asking how little Adeline is doing. So I wanted to post an update on my sweet little granddaughter. This morning she had a doctor appointment at Children's Hospital in Dallas. Her blood counts came back very low so as I type this update, she is getting another blood transfusion. As always, our Addie has lots of smiles even though she is having to go through this. Bless her heart!

A bone marrow biopsy has been scheduled for May 19th. This will help the doctors determine future treatments as well as to rule out/diagnose other potential medical conditions.

At one years old, Addie Grace will be old enough to start steroid treatments. Her doctor has planned to start steroids at the end of June. In some cases, steroid treatment has been able to stimulate the bone marrow to start producing more red blood cells. We are all keeping our fingers crossed that steroid treatment will help Adeline.

I wanted to thank everyone who has reached out to our family to check on Addie Grace and for the generous donations, love and continued support. It means so much.
