Please don’t let my baby die.

My daughter’s insurance company is sending her home to die because they will not  pay for her IV medication or care.
We are usually a very private family, keeping our personal life personal. But something has happened that I can’t fix. Because of ‘Insurance Regulations’ my daughter Tiel, will die if she doesn’t raise the money to pay for the antibiotics and nutrients she needs to survive a catastrophic chain of medical events.
We just found out that her insurance WILL NOT PAY  for her medication when she is released from the hospital. Apparently she does not qualify. We have tried several other avenues to get help, but to no avail. She does not even qualify for in-home nursing care. She’s a single mom juggling three kids. I help as much as I can, but I’m not as well as I need to be to keep up.
Here’s her story:
This all began 7 years ago when she had her gall bladder removed. It lead to chronic pancreatitis . After years of pain, countless hospital stays and more medication than any one person should ever take in a lifetime, she needed surgery.
Five weeks ago she had a procedure called the Whipple to remove 1/3 of her pancreas, and reroute everything . She was cut from left to right on her upper abdomen, and all her innards were removed, portions of her bowel were also removed, then replaced  The surgery took 6 hours and left her with a 13 inch scar, and two drains that were to be removed 4 weeks later. After 8 days in the hospital she returned home only to have 3 inches of her incision break open and leak a lot of brown fluid. Her local hospital rushed her by ambulance back to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital where her surgery was performed  thinking it was a perforated bowel. She could keep nothing down, and was spiking fevers in excess of 103 degrees. Her pain level was above the highest ten.  It turned out that it was a very bad infection from dead tissue. The treatment is to clean it twice a day, and pack it until it heals. It’s very painful.  BUT HERE’S THE KICKER...test after test was performed when she was admitted and they found a life threatening abscess the size of a baseball on her liver. Back into surgery she went. Her prognosis was grim and we were told that she was so sick that her body might give up. She was left with yet another tube coming out of her body. Because of her very poor lab results, and still not being able to hold anything down,  a PICC line was put in her artery to administer nutrients.
Now here we are, five weeks later, and her lab results are improving enough that she can come home. Only problem is that her insurance WILL NOT PAY for the medication that still has to be hooked up to her PICC line. Nor will they pay for a visiting nurse. This is why I’m asking for your help.
A little about her:
She’s only 36 years old, has three really great children, all honor students, and she is an EMT who works with severely mentally challenged patients in a group home setting. She tries to be involved with her children’s sports, their school and a couple hobbies. She’s an amazing woman. She has even managed to pay off her mortgage and still save a little for retirement. She is truly a blessing to anyone she knows.
Please help her. Please don’t let this ridiculous ‘insurance rule’ take my baby from me, and leave my grandchildren without a mom. We would never recover from the loss.
I would like to thank each and every one of you for your help. Although I’d like to share my and my grandchildren’s devastation, tears and fear over all of this, this is not about us. There is so much more to her story, but it can’t end this way. Not now. Not when she’s come so far. . It’s too soon to say goodbye to her. Again, thank you from all of us who love her.
