In 2016, Patrick Murphy and his girlfriend Tammy Jeffs packed up their lives and made the move to Canada.
During their time overseas, they spent their winters in Revelstoke and their summers on Vancouver Island, where they enjoyed snowboarding, working, surfing, hiking and travelling the country.
Tragically, on the 30th June 2018 Pat was involved in an accident, suffering severe and life changing injuries including full and partial limb amputations.
My name is Jade Shanks, and I am a friend to both Pat, Tammy and their families. The main goal by starting this campaign is to tell Pat's story and call upon all the amazingly generous community who may be able to help raise some much needed donations to assist in Pat's transfer back to Newcastle where he will then undergo further medical procedures and intense rehabilitation.
The fantastic news is that Pat is almost medically stable enough to transfer back to Australia. Part of the condition of his ability to be transferred is that there is a 2-person medical team are required to escort him home. Due to the nature of his injuries Pat needs a fully lay-out bed to be transferred on a commercial flight. This cost is in excess of $60,000 just for both Medical staff and Pat to fly home. This is where the kind donations will assist.
When returning to Australia, Pat will immediately need to go into specialist rehab. This cost, and the cost of mobility aids and prosthetics again will be significant.
This has been extremely emotionally, physically and psychologically trying for Pat, Tammy and family and the road to recovery will be lengthy. Pat will need to learn the basics like walking and using of his hands in every day life all over again. We can't wait until we see Pat on a surf board again!!!
Any monetary support or assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated and extremely well received not only by Pat, but by Tammy and Les & Paul (Pats mum & dad) who are financially supporting Pat's Medical costs.
We want nothing more than to have Pat back at home in Newcastle with his family and friends!
