Pirate Parties International (PPI) is a multinational conglomeration of political parties, non-profits, and activists who conduct advocacy projects for the sake of online freedom, protection of privacy, and open-source governance ( http://pp-international.net ).
Please donate a small amount of your choosing, whatever you can afford. By making this donation you are making a symbolic gesture, and we hope to collect a large number of small donations and not a small number of large donations.
We need your support for a number of reasons. On the practical side of things, to improve our online infrastructure such as our website, mail server, and all of the technical necessities of running an organization like ours. We also conduct community organizing and networking with conferences, collaborative projects, research, legal support, and doing all that we can to support grassroots activism and mobilize as activists ourselves.
PPI provides a platform that is open to the global public to debate policies and organize activism projects. We are completely transparent in all of our work, and the public is always welcome to listen in or read the minutes of our meetings. We petition for worthy causes, such as supporting whistleblowers and hacktivists who are facing legal repercussions for taking a stand against systemic corruption and violence. The PPI board meets every other week, and there are member outreach meetings once a month. Twice a year there is a General Assembly, one online and one physical which is hosted by one of the national Pirate Parties.
We aren't just asking for funds. We are asking for you to get involved by volunteering with a Pirate organization . Activists and political parties from over 40 nations participate in PPI. All of our participants do so voluntarily based on shared ideological goals. The diversity of the Pirate movement is phenomenal, and intended by the nature of our philosophy. We believe in human rights and open democratic institutions that encourage freedom of expression and assembly, government transparency, and evidence-based policy. We are progressives who believe in the power of technology, the internet and most importantly, the people.
In a world where governments are becoming more and more power hungry, criminalizing dissent and doing everything they can to control the narrative, it is crucial that organizations such as PPI help to fight back.
