Pink Purple Princess Project is a nonprofit that benefits women battling breast cancer and/or domestic violence. The concept was created after my mother Mary Brown was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in March 2015. She died on Jan 4, 2016. She helped me create and supported my vision until the end. My mother prior to being diagnosed was a domestic violence awareness advocate. She expressed her passion to raise awareness on her radio show IweUMedia Inspirational Wake up on hamiltonradio.net. She also worked with Womanspace and St. Francis Hospital Domestic Violence program. As you may or may not know October is not only breast cancer awareness month, it’s also domestic violence awareness month. This marriage was destined to be a part of our lives.

Now my story is a little different. I am a state and national pageant title holder who is also a coach and CEO of Starlite Galaxy Foundation and Starlite Galaxy Pageants, also nonprofits.

Most women facing illness or domestic violence have this in common. They lose their confidence and often feel isolated. I remember painting my mom’s nails, rubbing her feet, brushing her teeth. I also recall going to treatment with her and seeing woman who were always alone. It often would make me sad, because my mother always had someone by her side. Grant it she was like a saint, nonetheless, no one should have to go through that alone. No woman should feel alone when she isfinding the courage do get out of an abusive relationship or take chemo/radiation.

I asked my mother wouldn’t it be nice, if me and my queens created a workshop for woman battling breast cancer and domestic violence. The concepts, for them to receive literature, have group counseling session, share their stories with other women, get pampered and at the end receive either a pink or purple sash and crown. To have one day in the mist of all the chaos to feel like a princess. To be waited on by real princesses. I realize this doesn’t take away their problems, but being I am not a physician who may discover a cure, or a nonprofit raising money to providing shelter and food, I wanted to create something to help within my own abilities and knowledge. I wanted to focus more of my attention on the women. Make the experience more of a personal one. In circumstances when you don't often feel great, as women it can bring a smile to our face just to put on a nice outfit and makeup. I want to give this gift to woman all around the nation.

Even though my mother’s death was the worst thing to ever happen to me. Even though I still live with this sadness, bitterness and anger, I know should want me to “Do good anyway” as she would quote from Mother Theresa. This is in her honor, because no matter how sick she was, she still cared for others.

Now you have the background story, will you help us reach our goal? The more money we raise, the more workshops we are able to facilitate. I will also load photos from our 1st Annual charity fashion show.
Thank you
