Pink Hugs for Lisa Boccard Fighting Breast Cancer

This page is dedicated to helping Lisa Boccard with her ongoing personal battle with metastatic breast cancer. Her cancer returned aggressively this past year and Lisa is on her third chemotherapy regime to stop it. It has been a long, hard road for months now with weekly trips to the hospital. The cancer is filling Lisa’s abdomen with cancerous fluids causing severe pain and requiring a weekly “tapping” to remove it. This has been a painful and discouraging journey.
A group of us that love Lisa dearly are starting this page in hopes to relieve her financial worries so she can focus all her energies on fighting cancer. Even though Lisa has health insurance, the high deductible and ongoing co-pays are rising to scary amounts. (For example, each time she is tapped it is a $200 co-pay.) Lisa is on disability and cannot work. She lives with and is the primary caregiver for her 96-year-old mother. Her concern about the healthcare costs is adding stress to her life that she cannot afford.
Many of you who are reading this will know Lisa and are familiar with her journey. For those of you who do not know Lisa, her battle with breast cancer began in 1991, at the age of 29. It was then that her breast cancer advocacy journey also began. In 2003, with a diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer, Lisa was told she had 5 years to live. She did not give up. She courageously fought and surpassed her “life expectancy” with a warrior drive and determination to positively impact the lives of others.
She has dedicated the past 15 years to helping women in our community – educating them about breast cancer and providing free mammograms & breast treatments through the Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund. She shares her personal cell phone number and has guided women through their own journey, encouraging them, helping them find funding for cancer drugs and inspiring them with her unstoppable spirit. She is a wonderful friend to hundreds – taking the time to write thank you cards, always remembering birthdays and always ready to share her beautiful smile. She has never sought donations for her personal needs.
It is our hope that we can now “pay forward” Lisa’s dedication and kindness to others and give back to her. Thank you for taking the time to visit this page. Any size donation (large or small) will serve helpful in meeting the financial goal for Lisa.
