Pinball wizard...in training

3/14/17 - Update

Thank you very much but with the recent nor easter coming in, the additional cost of the trip is not reasonable.

I've had some cancellation fees and other pinball expenses besides that I will figure out a way to refund everyones money. Personal checks or paypal. I'll figure it out.

I appreciate all of your support but I will not be making it to pinball nationals this year.

Hello, my name is Jason Provencher.
I have traveled the world for my country and now I would love to travel to Texas for PINBALL!

I have been lucky/talented enough to qualify to REPRESENT THE STATE OF MAINE at the National Pinball Championships in March ,2017.

"Played great pinball today Jason. Lost to Ace but took the 3 or 4 time Maine State Pinball champ to game 7 best out of 7 and ball 3... you playing the last ball..That last ball you was approaching his score rapidly the last few seconds you couldn't hit nothing lol.... but when your ball drained you knew it, and your composure was awesome. You was smiling and had the attitude that 2nd was just as good as first place and I say.. that makes you a Champ. Great job. As for me I taught Portland folks new swear words!"

The support ofyour friends  is nice, but plane tickets cost more than high fives.

PROBLEM: The championship is located in Dallas, Texas...I live in Maine and it is 1 month away.
My bank account tells me I am in fact NOT qualified to go.
Please. ..PLEASE help me change this.

This is my story...

I am a member of the Rummex Pinball house (Facebook). Located in Rumford, Maine. We also have a papermill, Mardens and a Walmart. Big time city right?

Growing up I actually "owned" my own pinball machine... until 1st grade (not long). Moving from apartment to apartment made keeping the machine near impossible. From then on I was only able to play once a week when we traveled to the laundry-mat for laundry day and even at $ 0.25 a game I didn't get much practice in.  Fast forward 25 years, without owning my own machine to practice on, I have qualified to compete on t gg e NATIONAL level.  Only ONE representative from each state qualifies to go, if I can't go,  MAINE will not be represented in the National Pinball Championship in Dallas,  Texas next month.  That's a bummer right? 

My home turf. ..

We are a small group of about 12 weekly players and we compete at local friends house for cash and prizes ...just kidding. Winners get bragging rights, bout it, sometimes a trophy and we win a buck or two off eachother if we're feeling frisky.

Pinball is a hobby and not a source of income. This is why justifying a trip from Maine to Texas for a hobby doesn't jive with my "adult" responsibilities. This isn't a welfare scenario.

My truck needs tires, my child needs clothes (who knew they grow so fast), and I could list 100 others things more responsible that you and I could spend/contribute money towards.

To do this I work 40+ hours a week and make decent money. I do not qualify for any aid programs and I do not qualify for welfare. I'm not poor...just broke. 1 month is to short to save the money needed to make the trip to Texas.

100% Honesty = I want to travel somewhere for me and I'm not sure if I can/should.

Have I done anything to deserve your money? Clearly not, but this is the world we live in and if dead beats can ask for hand outs then why cant a 32 year old U.S. Veteran with a family to support and a full time job ask for sponsors to get them to Nationals fot Pinball.

Please help me become a PINBALL WIZARD.
