daytons surgery

Dayton is my 8 year old German Shepherd. He has helped me through some pretty tough times. Surgeries, break ups, the loss of loved ones, I can always count on him to be there. Last year I became a single mother to a baby boy, Wyatt. Wyatt crawls all over Dayton and loves him to pieces and Dayton loves him.

Today Dayton took a trip to the vet. A few years ago the cartilage in his ear separated and filled with blood. They were able to drain it and he was fine. Well it has happened again and this time the fluid pocket is huge and is going down into his canal. The only way to fix it now is to drain the fluid and sew his ear cartilage back together to prevent it from happening again. While there the vet also checked his rear end because I was concerned. Turns out he has Perianal fistula. He needs to have laser treatment done on his rear and needs antibiotics. Vet said we really don’t want to put off treating these because his ear got worse in the span of two days. I paid for all the blood work to clear Dayton for surgery and for meds.

Dayton goes in for surgery Monday morning and as of right now I can’t pay for it to be done. Yes, I am living pay check to pay check, yes someone did point out it would be cheaper to put the dog down. I’m not about to end my best friends life just because he needs some help right now. He is still playful when he is not hurting, alert and happy. It’s my turn to be there for my best friend when he needs me and that is why I am asking for help. I’m not sure how much everything is going to cost but every penny goes to him. If the surgery is less then what I have received then Dayton is getting new toys and a spa day when he is all healed… possibly some yummy treats.
