Phyllis J. Owens, age 71, passed away on October 19, 2018.
Born in Akron to parents Edwin and Muriel Moore, she had been a resident of the Hartville area most of her life. Phyllis was a teacher in the Akron Public Schools for 32 years and was a longtime volunteer at Akron Children’s Hospital. She enjoyed fishing with her husband, Rick and was a loving wife and mother.
Preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Rick in 2017, she is survived by her son, Scott; brothers-in-law, Bob (Priscilla) and Ronnie (Penny) Owens; nephew, John Hartman; and will be missed by other family and friends; and her special “pal”, London.
The Owens family would like to thank her niece, Joann for the love and care she gave to Phyllis.
Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, 7 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Private inurnment will take place at Hillside Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials to the Stark County Humane Society or St. Jude.
