Help Save Our Precious Phoebe

For those of you that don't know George and I well, we were not blessed with children of our own, but are parents to four fur babies.  Phoebe, our bichon, is our oldest at a still very young 8.  We had been going back and forth to the vet's office over the past two months trying to figure out what is going on with her as she seemed like she had an upper respiratory infection that just wouldn't go away with treatment.  Finally, she was seen by an internal medicine specialist who did CT scans and an endoscopy of her sinus area.  She did a biopsy and we found out on Friday that she has a malignant nasal tumor (cancer). 

We were blessed to get in the same day with our oncologist Dr. Jarred Lyons from Veterinary Cancer Group of the San Fernando Valley.  He gave us different options from palliative care (radiation with a long recovery time and 2 to 6 months to live) to the treatment we are opting for Sterotactic Radiosurgery which can ultimately cure dogs where they can live out the rest of their lives cancer-free.  This is our hope and prayer for her.  The cost of this treatment is $13,900 which we need to pay on August 29th  in order have the procedure done before the cancer spreads as it is right next to her brain.

We love her so much and have already spent over $5000 up to this point.  We would be so thankful for any support our friends and family can give. She is our baby, and we will do anything to save her life.

UPDATE - After her first treatment on 9/1, she is scheduled to have her 2nd and 3rd next Tuesday and Wednesday.  After treatment on Wednesday they are also going to remove her lymph nodes located under her jaw/neck area.  They will then send that to pathology to see if she will need to continue with chemotherapy.  Yes this is all so crazy - but thankfully this radiation has little to no side effects and when George picked her up she was peppy and excited to go home.  The doctor said that this radiation stops the cancer cells from reproducing so it won't grow any bigger and the tumor will live out its life cycle and then die.  

If all of our friends gave $10 and then shared and strangers gave $5 it could make a huge impact.  George is also selling some guitars (check them out on reverb - dude zebra music) anything we can do to help raise the money and not be in debt to creditors!!    We have been blessed with generosity all around and we are truly grateful.  We have also attached gifts to giving levels which are yours if you wish so please let us know if you want them and include t-shirt sizes if part of your gift.
