Philip Augustin WOHS Scholarship

Philip Robert Augustin (1984-2004)
Phil…. The boy who lit up a room just by smiling (or by cracking a joke, doing a dance, complimenting everyone around him, or saying something incredibly witty). When Phil first passed away in 2004, a WOHS scholarship fund was started in his memory, the funds have recently depleted and we wanted to keep his memory alive…. That is where YOU come in…. Let’s help put a smile on a WOHS student’s face, just like Phil put a smile on our face every morning as the bell rang and he made some joke over morning announcements.
Every dollar counts. Please consider making a difference in a student’s life just like Phil made a difference in all of ours…
Description of: The Philip Augustin Humanitarian Scholarship Award
In memory of Philip Augustin, a WOHS 2002 graduate. Philip died tragically in 2004 at age 20, while a sophomore at George Washington University. Philip was an incredibly outgoing, charismatic, funny, warm and intelligent individual. He was a gifted musician, Student Council President, a WOHS honor student, member of National Honors Society, school mascot, and was elected Governor of the American Legion New Jersey Boy’s State. A generous and compassionate individual, he also volunteered and taught literacy to 5th grade homeless children.
The Philip Augustin Humanitarian Award will go to a graduating WOHS Senior who has made significant contributions to the vibrancy of community life in West Orange High School and who exhibited excellence in leadership, community service, and a strong appreciation for the arts.
