OK, Where do I start??? My name is Cheyenne and I'm Phil's better half. We have been together for 13 years and have been though more than you can imagine. We have our ups and downs like any other couple.  We are far from perfect like other's think we are. "Why aren't we married yet?" That's my favorite question through out the years. Since the day we met, we clicked and I knew he was the one. We got engaged after 2 years and started to plan our dream wedding. On June 9th 2007, Phil had a massive heart attack at the age of 31, coming home from softball tournament.  As we were playing, Phil had bent down and kneed as he was playing short stop. Thinking he was just dehydrated he left the field and sat and drank Gatorade. We had finished the tournament and on our way home, Phil started to get very uncomfortable in the car. Telling me that he just wants to go home. Learning CPR the day before, I knew the signs of heart attack. We had dropped my friend off to her car and left to go home. As we left the parking lot, I have noticed Phil wasn't squirming around in his seat anymore.  I look over and noticed his lips were turning blue. Panicking, I pulled over and pulled him from the car and started CPR, as my friend called 911 and his parents. First  responders had showed up and took over from there. Rushing to him to the hospital, where he spent 3 weeks in a drug induced coma. As he was fighting for his life, I spent endless nights by his side, praying and waiting for him to wake up. The day he woke up, I can't even explain the feelings I felt that day. He spent 2 months in rehab learning how to walk, talk, write, take care of himself all over again. As, he got stronger he was able to leave rehab.
Fast forward a few years later, we had 2 more amazing kids. So, 3 kids together. Our oldest son had hockey game that night and he stayed home cause he wasn't feeling well. As, we got home from the game, he was in the bathroom and called me in there. When I got in there, he was laying on the floor, sweating and said he was cold. Also, said that something didn't feel right. Call 911 and they transferred him to the hospital. That night we found out that he had another heart attack. Which lead to having a double bypass at the age 37. We have changed our eating habits, he quit smoking. Never was a fan of drinking and became more active. Thought everything was going great, until this year 2018. He was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
Great! Another thing we have to conquer together. As we went for walks, played softball, running kids to sports and work. We thought we had it all figured out. Phil had switched hours at work to overnights. For the first few months everything worked out great. He was home during the day and I was at night. About 2 months ago, Phil had not been feeling well and checked his sugars on his meter and meter read "EXTREMELY HIGH" thinking his meter was damaged. He got a new one. Still not feeling the best, he kept going into work, dealing with everyday things. One night he had real bad shakes and felt like crap. I took him into the ER and found out that his sugars were in the 900's. Nurse had told us that he should have been in a diabetes coma. Few days in the hospital, he was back to normal. He made doctor appointments and was told he should have a pump.  Working on getting a pump, Phil had found out that his health insurance through work was terminated due to not completing it on time. Which he did at work and had a supervisor help him. (BUT that's a different story)  Due to some issues at work, Phil was fired about a month ago. With diabetes and heart disease, can you imagine what the cost of his medications are?
On Friday November 16th, Phil was hospitalized with pain in his chest and his numbers sky high (500's). He goes for a stress test tomorrow and if it shows anything, he will get an Angiogram. That's the latest update.
What can I say about Phil? He's the most loving and caring man I have ever met. He would go out of his way to help you, tell you a joke to cheer you up. There's not a place we haven't been where he doesn't know someone. He's my rock, my better half and the most amazing dad/uncle he knows how to be.  He loves his family and friends. With that being said, I'm asking for anything that would help with medical bills and help with getting him a pump for his diabetes.
