A Miracle For Marli

Donation protected
My name is Maria, and last year my family had the opportunity to visit our place of origin: Brava, Cape Verde. It was an amazing trip. What we we didn't realize was that, we would have a moment of "love at first sight". We visited the town of Nossas Senhora Da Monte, where we laid eyes on this beautiful little girl (who was eight at the time), who unfortunately, couldn't share in the moment with us, because she is vision impaired due to cataracts.  This condition is treatable, but not where she currently lives. Our hearts were immediately moved, and I, for one was not able to get her off of my mind. A couple of days later, I woke up in the middle of  the night, in the island of Fogo, and heard God's voice say, "your family is going to help this little girl, get her sight". I was so excited, could hardly sleep; and I  couldn't wait to share this with the rest. When I did, they all agreed and were just as excited.  After much research I found out her name, and eventually was able to get in contact with her mom. Here we are after eight months, and the time has come to begin this campaign, for "Marli's Miracle".

Marli's mom is so grateful...and is filled with hope. Marli had her first eye surgery at the tender age of one month old. It wasn't a total success. Since then Marli's mom has been hoping for an opportunity to try again. She is a single mom of three kids (Marli's the youngest), hardly has an income, and lives in third world country conditions. Our trip was great, but we can't help but to remember what we saw, the need that exists in that family...especially in Marli.

The goal is to raise $25,000 (which I hope is enough) to cover the cost of legal paperwork, transportation to America, medical bills, and any other expenses that we may incur, while she is here getting treatment.  The best place for her to have this delicate surgery is here in America (in Boston, MA), so my family and I can transport her as needed and neccessary. The first step is to get her to the United States and proceed from there.

The funds are needed asap: as it will take money to move forward, in the attempt to get her and her mom here: as soon as possible.

Any funds that exceeds Marli's treatment (if any) will then be equally divided amongst the schools for the blind in the other eight remaining islands, in an effort to make a difference in the lives of other children: just like Marli.

Personally, I want to make  a lasting difference in the life of a child, that otherwise, may never be experienced. Second, I live for helping others (and this would be the greatest attempt to achieve this heartfelt desire). Third,  I want my family to carry on a legacy left by my dad of reaching out to the hurting.  Lastly we would love to see Marli have the opportunity, before her tenth birthday (February 3, 2017) to finally be able to see herself, her family, a butterfly, flowers, sunsets, her friends, the sun, the beautiful waters surrounding her, the amazing world we live in, etc. I would love to know that she will have a chance at a life that so many of us take for granted. Changing Marli's life will be changing her future, and the future generations to come.

Please join us in making this possible!
