World Record Football Match

My brother Matt Grimstone & Worthing United team mate Jacob Schilt (both aged 23) were on their way to play the game which so many people love when they fell victim to the Shoreham air crash in August 2015. 9 other loved ones also lost their lives on that day.

Fellow county league footballer Matt Chaplain was taken away from his young family by cardiac arrest in April 2013, aged just 38.  


Following the Shoreham air disaster the whole of the football community both locally and nationally pulled together to remember Matt and Jacob, as footballers, two men who were just on their way to play for their team.

The strength of the football community during that very difficult time was a pillar of strength to the family and friends struggling to come to terms of what had happened.


Now we are looking to unite as a football family and community once again, to break the record for the longest football match. The game is set to start on Thursday 26th May running until Monday 30th May at Lancing College.


Our aim is to beat the world record which currently stands at 105 hours.

All money raised will be equally split between the British Heart Foundation and creating a permanent footballing memorial in Worthing, in memory of three players taken from us far too soon.
