Pets in The Park Christmas Donation
Pets In The Park is a non-profit charity providing quality veterinarian care for homeless, socially disadvantaged people and their beloved animals. I have had the pleasure of working for PITP for about a year and it is the most humbling, rewarding, and often difficult thing that I, and many other volunteers, have experienced.
Our pets can be our family, our confidantes and our best friends, or all of the above. Anything we can do to help support and maintain this bond is invaluable. These much loved pets offer unconditional love, companionship, emotional support and security; basic human needs that are often not met elsewhere when you are living on the streets.
Despite whatever is going on in their lives, these people take responsibility every month and turn up to the clinics to receive basic treatments and health checks. It is not uncommon for the owners to go without food in order to feed their pets. The love these people have for their animals is amazing; but sadly love can't buy all the things they need for ongoing care.
We rely solely on donations, and unfortunately these donations run out. One combo vaccination protecting an adult dog against parvovirus, distemper and hepatitis costs around $85 - $90 at a general clinic - and monthly boosters are required. Providing vaccinations for dogs and cats also helps lower the risk of disease in the wider community.
I have started this page because the year is almost over and while the volunteers may be having a well earned break, homelessness doesn't stop. The clients pets still need medical care, food and shelter. Here's where you can help!! I've set the target at $1,000 and would be BLOWN AWAY if this was reached just before Christmas so we can help ease the pressure over the Christmas period and spread a little joy! Any donation is greatly appreciated because it all adds up and will make a difference.
Alternatively, you can visit their website for more info on how to donate: https://www.petsinthepark.org.au/#!/page_donations
