In Memory of Peter Bender - Tragedy

Update:
Thank you to everyone that attended the prayer ceremony and/or funeral for Peter. I personally don't think he truly knew how many of you loved him and the levels to which you do.

With our Dear Peter now laid to rest and the final bills becoming a bit more clearer.

The cost of the funeral was $10,600, plus the plot/land in the cemetary $5700 and a headstone will still need to be purchased $2000. Taking into account the credit card fees applied against the moneies collected I have in turn raised our goal to $20,000.

I feel horrible for doing such but I want to try to have as much of the funeral free from their minds as possible.

If you could please continue sharing to those whom know Peter in his very short life it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you everyone for everything you've already contributed, your kind words and memories.

December 19th, 2015 at approximately 4:19am Peter Bender was taken from his family. Shot in a Church parking lot in Maple Ridge, British Columbia.

This is a homicide with the police currently investigating.  The crime is not drug or gang related.

He is only 33 years old and leaves behind two young children (under the age of 5), his wife, his two grieving sisters, lovely aged mother and nieces.  Not to mention countless relatives spread across the globe.

He loved Christmas and his family. He was loving his new job and had made new friends there. When he wasn’t with his two children he was at the gym or at work. 

This family is a proud family that unfortunately has had a lot of tragedies in the last 6 years. First losing their Father, then not but two years later their eldest sister and now another two years later their youngest sibling and only brother.

I have known this family since I was 6 years old; I grew up and will hopefully grow old in my friendship with the family and the youngest female sibling. My sister grew up with Peter through all the years and their family is part of my own. (Please see correction* below.)

With everything over the years and knowing their financial ability this death is going to be difficult as we know the young brother didn’t have a large savings and mom works many hours to keep the family going and to keep herself busy.

I was going to setup a tragedy account but in speaking with the financial institutions these are highly regulated and can only be open 30-60 days. As I know that he has many friends and family around the world I am not sure that will be ample time to allow everyone to contribute should they wish.

Any contribution will benefit the family. In speaking with the funeral home of choice we are estimating $7,000 - $8,000 for the funeral and headstone. I put $10,000 to allow for any unknowns and anything remaining will be put towards the children. Whom he loved dearly.

They still dont know what is going on as they are too young; though they know they will not be seeing Daddy again. 
 
This is my first time doing this so please forgive me but I just want to be able to put this out there to help the family out.

There are multiple news articles to ensure vailidity of this cause.  I love this family so much and will do anything to help them out with this tragedy.
