Peter Rommel has touched the hearts of many. Through his position at the front desk and as manager on duty at the Historic Taos Inn, Realtor extraordinare at Bershire Hathaway HomeServices Taos Real Estate, and his previous life in Tulsa, OK, we have felt his love and compassion. Now he needs your help and support to repair his heart.
As many of you know Peter felt "wonky" on Monday, January 30, 2017 and called 911. Our wonderful Taos paramedics rushed him to Holy Cross and he was immediately airlifted to St Vincents in Santa Fe. Peter is now at Lovelace Heart Hospital in Albuquerque, the same hospital that saved his life and fixed his aneurism in his descending aorta two and a half years ago. He is fully functional and conscious and on FB today. He feels fine ---- but scared.
Monday's episode was not a "stroke" but was caused by low blood pressure and heart rate - not enough blood getting to his brain. Head CTs and MRIs look good. He has some brain fog and forgot about Trump - but that unpleasant memory has returned. An acute dissection in his ascending aortic arch showed up in today's chest CT. The only option is a complicated open heart surgery to replace his ascending aortic arch, and delicately attaching it to his previous repair. Peter will be flown to Houston and the surgery will be preformed later this week by the cardio thorasic surgical team at Baylor. We would like to thank President Obama for the insurance that will save Peter's life. Unfortunately, his co-pays and the Life Flight transportation to Houston are already becoming overwhelming, not to mention the mortgage payment! We have achieved so much stabililty in the past year, and would like to continue to live our lives. Thank you, all of you, for the love and support! Keep it flowing, please ❤️
