Pete Lawrence Lopez Jr. “Little Pete”, a loving son and brother, age 35, was embraced by our Lord Jesus Tuesday, June 26, 2018. He was born on March 11, 1983 to Pete Sr. and Kathleen Lopez. 

Pete graduated from Independence High School receiving his high school diploma in 2001. He was a ball of energy that no one can contain, Pete was a lover of gambling and competitive at slots. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially when it came to fishing, off-roading and crocheting. In addition he continued to love his favorite things, music and drawing. 

Pete is preceded in heaven by his loving husband of 6 years, Matthew Maez; aunt, Diana Gallegos; and his grandmother, Mary Frances Lopez who he adored.

Pete is survived by his loving parents, Pete Sr. and Kathleen Lopez; daughter, Aaliyah Selena; brother, Nathan (Melissa) Lopez; his nephews and niece, Dominic, Aaron, and Sonya; paternal grandfather, Tom Lopez; maternal grandparents, Howard and Sadie Kephart; aunts and uncles, Elaine Wittenstrom, Howard (Theresa) Kephart, Phil (Annette) Montoya, Jim (Tina) Lopez, Helen (Paul) Schmidt, Elma Lopez; cousins, Jimmy (Rhi) Gallegos, Thomas (Jenny) Gallegos, Anthony (Maira) Lopez, Monique Schmidt, Toni Ann Gonzales, Tanya Kephart, April Kephart, Annie (Martin) Kephart, Dwight (Susan) Rivera, Ross Rivera, Justin Montoya, Phillip (Lindsey) Montoya; and other numerous of loving relatives and friends. 

A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., with a Mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd. Rio Rancho, NM 87124. Inturnment to follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park. Reception will take place following Inturnment services at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

Pete will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those whose lives he touched.

On behalf of Pete’s family, they wish to express their sincere gratitude and support from family and friends. Memorial donations in memory of Pete may be given to Nathan Lopez to cover funeral expense.
