Pete and Amanda Miller's Little Nora

Donation protected
Nora Wren Miller was born June 19, 2019 and on July 8th went in for surgery to hopefully correct a condition which she has called ventriculomegaly.  Amanda and Pete learned by chance in utero she had an enlarged right ventricle, thus beginning a long and stressful journey with their little one.  Her ventricle stabilized so they were cleared to deliver at Vassar and welcomed their beautiful miracle on June 19th.   After following up with a neurologist, further testing revealed more growth from her right ventricle and surgery was recommended to decrease the growing pressure in her brain. Her neurologist reassured them it looked to be correctable. All went well for the surgery and Nora was back home with Pete, Amanda, and big brother Charlie by July 12th.  She was recovering well for the next few days.
On July 21st Nora was back at the Columbia Children's Hospital as her dissolvable stitches were disappearing and scabs were flaking off which led to an opening for cerebrospinal fluid to start to trickle out.  The new plan was to attempt to glue the opening and monitor for at least a night.  There was a potential to be discharged Tuesday, June 23rd until Nora had a change becoming very upset, inconsolable,  and appearing to only respond well to being upright. On top of that she wasn't eating wel,l which is not like her. Ultrasound revealed an increase in her right ventricle leading her doctors to transfer Nora back to PICU. She had surgery, again,  to replace her drain and a sample of her CSF was sent out. They are  looking at either an infection or inflammation which would be the body's unfortunate response to her first surgery.  Meanwhile  Nora will be in the hospital another 3 weeks.
Nora is still being a champ and is definitely Amanada, Pete and Charlie's little warrior!

We all know Pete and Amanda in various ways...as friends, family, co-workers, animal rescuers and comic book fans.  We also know that the two of them are some of the kindest and most giving humans you could ever meet!  We have set up this go fund me in order to help them get through this.  Donate what you can...small amounts can add up to a huge help.  Between unexpected medical costs and travel to and from the hospital to be with little Nora during her recovery while still spending time with big brother Charlie (who is still a little guy too!), they could use your help.

Pete, Amanda,Charlie and Nora would be most grateful for any help, including sending prayers, thoughts, healing vibes and lots of love!

Many thanks in advance!!!
