Pepperjack's Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Pepperjack was born around September 2017, a month before the Sonoma and Napa fires. The smoke really took a toll on this little guy, but he's a serious fighter.

His first test was before we even owned him. His left eye got seriously infected. The vets at the clinic had to wait for him to gain weight and get healthy so they could remove his eye.
He adjusted to the pirate life so quickly, sometimes we forget he only has one eye.

His second test was the lung damage from the fires. The vet originally put him on antibiotics, which helped but didn't cure his wheezing and coughing. A couple months later, the vet did a bronchial rinse where they filled his lungs with fluid and swished it around a bit before clearing the fluid. Most animals need oxygen after this, but Pepperjack proved once again that he's a little badass and had no problem recovering without the extra oxygen.

His third test was a surprise. One time we took him to the vet for his lungs, and it turned out he also had a broken leg because his right femur is naturally shaped with a large kink (not straight). See below:The vet told us with a heavy heart that this little guy didn't seem to have much luck, and it might not be fair to him to continue this difficult life. I immediately started crying because I couldn't possibly imagine putting Pepperjack down at such a young age before really giving him a chance to live. He looked at me with the saddest look on his face and I knew I couldn't give up on him. After that, he fought even harder to prove himself. The vets told us to keep him in a cage to rest his broken leg, since they couldn't  splint the kinked bone. He was not easy to control for those 6 weeks.

We had no idea what we were getting when we decided to adopt Pepperjack, but we wouldn't change anything. He's the cutest little guy in the world and follows us wherever we go (sometimes even to work).

Please help this little guy keep fighting. As awesome as he is, his medical bills are expensive. We tried getting pet insurance, but they won't cover him because his lungs are a "pre-existing condition." ANYTHING HELPS! Seriously.
