Vision Africa (Community and Wildlife) and the Alldays Wildlife and Communities Research Centre work together in Alldays, South Africa to make the lives of its residents, both human and wildlife, better for the long-term. Through activities such as rescuing starving animals, reducing human-wildlife conflict and providing under-privileged people with education and life necessities, we do what we can to reduce suffering and improve lives. What we can do is only limited by our funding, but unfortunately funding is often limited.
This is why we ask for your help. We have a number of projects that would benefit from a little extra funding, and a number that we simply cannot achieve without your help. You can make a general donation to the organisations or you can let us know in the comments section if you would like your donation to go to a specific project. We will keep you updated with all our projects, the benefits that you have provided through your donation and what you can help with in the future.

Our first project features Oratile and his mother, Jane. Ora came from a public school to the Briershof School in Alldays two years ago. When he arrived he should have been in Grade 4, but was put back to Grade 2 as he wasn’t able to read or write. Public schools in South Africa are often under-staffed and under-funded, sometimes with up to 80 children in one class. This makes it almost impossible for teachers to give proper lessons and pupils to get the help they need, which means they often end up falling behind. Briershof School has a very small teacher to pupil ratio and as a result after two years Ora is now in Grade 5 and doing really well. This year Jane is struggling to make up the school fees with her current job, and we really don’t want Ora to have to go back into such a huge class.
Brierhof School was opened in 2013 with the benefit of the Alldays community in mind. The school charges the minimum fee on which it can function, trying to make these fees affordable to the local community. These fees currently stand at R1,650 per month, much less than many other private schools in the area. Unfortunately, charging any less than this will mean that the school cannot stay open.
Thankfully, WE HAVE THE ANSWER for Ora and his mother. Vision Africa Community is desperate for some help with all the community events they run - especially with translating, helping out at Briershof School and general admin work. We know Jane will do a fantastic job with these tasks as she has stepped in and helped out before, out of the goodness of her heart and without receiving any payment. We would love to employ Jane, but there is just no funding to do this.
That is where you come in.
For ZAR1,650 a month, that's a measly £95 for those of you in the UK, we can keep sending a child to school, provide a part-time job for a struggling mother, and help out with the great work that Vision Africa Community is doing. That's THREE benefits to your ONE donation - you'd be crazy not to get involved with this project. The other great thing about this project is that we only need to raise ZAR1,650 each month and not all in one go, so those of you who are feeling really generous can make a donation each pay-day, just think of it as a subscription to Netflix with greater benefits and a much better feel-good factor!
PS. We have also have two other students whose parents cannot afford the fees this year. Briershof does not want to lose these students so are currently sponsoring them a place each. However, this means the school suffers a little with less income coming. If we raise more than we need for Ora we will be able to offer the school the fees for these two pupils as well. So don’t be shy!
