Hello, this is Leroy, aka Da Cheese!
My name is Courtney. My husband Stuart and I adopted Leroy from a rescue near Omaha, Nebraska about 4 years ago. Through many adventures he has become our furry son and our very best friend. When we decided to get out of the Air Force, he traveled across the country with us to settle in Oregon, where we’ve gone back to school at the University of Oregon. Leroy is the snuggliest, squirrel-chasingest, people and dog lovingest boy around. He is the perfect hiking companion and a lover of cheese. While he doesn’t get along with cats, we can’t blame him since we don’t either. However, we need your help.
While Leroy is perfectly capable of finding trouble on his own, this one isn’t his fault. In December, after several weeks of declining health, multiple vet visits, and over $2,000 in diagnostic tests, we found out that Leroy has a type of cancer called B-cell lymphoma. We started treatment immediately, but 19 weeks of chemotherapy is expensive, especially for a couple of college students.
The treatments will be between $225 and $475 a week, totaling around $5,725. The GI Bill covers our monthly bills, but this just isn’t in our budget. We are in the process of applying to several canine medical charities, but they rely on donations too, so anything we get directly from you means that money can go to other dogs in need. Thank you so much to the Mosby Foundation for their generous $500 donation which covered this week’s bill.
