Hello!
My name is Phil Juliano and I'm a professional Cartoonist and Humorous Illustrator. Many of you know that I have a comic strip that I've been working on for over ten years with moderate success. Late last year, after receiving positive feedback from a certain successful Cartoonist-turned-author I've decided to take my comic strip, Best In Show, to the next level by creating a children's chapter book based on its storyline and characters.
The result is a semi-autobiographical adventure about a middle-aged guy, in a fit of nostalgia, devising a way to travel back in time to retrieve his prized Star Wars toy collection. While there he gets the opportunity to revisit his childhood. He sees his family, friends, favorite cartoons and of course, his toys. It's a very nostalgic and emotional look back at the golden age of childhood where one's biggest responsibility is to make it to school on time.
So, the hope for this campaign is to raise enough money through pre-sales of the book to pay for the first printing, shipping costs, galley printings for solicitation to publishing companies and miscellaneous promotional materials such as banners, post cards, etc.
Ideally, we will reach our goal by October 31st so that the manuscript can be sent to the printer for Holiday 2016 release, one of the most successful times of year for projects like this.
Finally, realizing this goal would be a wonderful way to share my childhood experiences, my sense of humor and love of toys, comics and cartoons. Furthermore, I hope it will spark fond memories of your own golden age of childhood and remind you that you never have to grow up, even if it's only on the inside.
