Cooking with Refugee Women

Tax deductible
Atlanta has hundreds of refugee women coming from more than fifty different countries. These women have variety of skills, which may or may not be translated into the workforce in the United States. However, many of them share one skill that is natural to them, and it is a valuable asset for the locals living in Atlanta. Women come to this country with their vast knowledge of cooking –a true component of their culture. Through the exchange of these recipes, we aim to bring cultures one-step closer!

With your help, refugee women living in Atlanta will be able to demonstrate special dishes (typical home cooked meals, not usually found in restaurants) from their country of origin. Participants will expand their cooking repertoire with hundred-years-old recipes from around the world, that are usually low cost, healthy and easy to replicate. Through food, Atlanta residents will be able to know a little bit more about their new neighbors' culture, and taste delicious food that is almost impossible to find anywhere else in Atlanta.

The funding will be used to rent a space, pay our teachers and translators (if needed) and purchase ingredients. We will have one class per month throughout one year.

This is a project carried out by Refugee Women's Network.
All donations will go directly to the Network.

The first cooking class is scheduled to be in September, 2018.

Thank you for your contribution!
