Payne Elementary School PTA

Payne Elementary School, a Title I school in SE Washington DC, needs funds for two urgent and time-sensitive needs: books for its classrooms, and a trip for their award-winning Robotics Club to attend the World Championships.
The books are for the 4th grade and 5th grade , which are still lacking classroom libraries for children to practice reading. We can purchase *300* books per grade from Scholastic at amazingly discounted prices ($1003 for 4th grade/$1070 for 5th grade) but the discount ends SOON, on February 28. The full price is twice that! So we are seeking $2073 to purchase these books so our kids have the tools they need to learn and grow.
From Ms. Foster, 4th grade Payne teacher: "My students are eager readers in 4th grade at Payne Elementary School. They are avid readers and we want to make sure the library at our Title 1 School has enough books to keep up with their love of learning! Having a large selection of books will help keep our readers engaged, and show them how much fun reading can be."
Payne also needs help for its wonderful Robotics Team. Though this is only their first year, they are already winning awards! The team was awarded the "Elementary School Excellence Award" at the Washington DC VEX IQ Challenge and qualified for the championship tournament. Congratulations to the team! Now they are raising money for their registration and travel to the 2017 VEX Worlds Championship in Louisville, KY on April 23-25, 2017. The team is raising money for registration fees ($850), transportation (est. $1000), lodging (est. $5600 for 4 nights/10 rooms each) and a new robotics kit ($395) for their competition! Please help our little engineers travel to their competition.
