Paul and Baxter Story

Today on my walk home. I noticed a man playing the guitar at the side of the street. Then, I saw he was homeless and had a dog with him.

I wanted to at least stop and say hello. And give at least a few pound coins I had left.

I realised I didn’t have any coins left after leaving a tip at the restaurant I had just been, so instead I sat down with the man.

After doing so I was glad I did as I learnt a lot about Paul & Baxter (his dog).

He explained that his boat house had been burnt down, he was not eligible for benefits and he is currently trying to raise money for a new home for him and Baxter. He also told me that he has been offered work at the park here on the Harbourside, and an office in the centre of town. Who have all told Paul that he is welcome to take baxter along with him. Which I loved hearing. But it isn’t enough.

It was at this point [for me] this wasn’t about leaving Paul a few pound coins. I wanted to try and help Paul in anyway that I could.

I saw a clip recently (at the bottom of this page) of a chap, homeless man in America, who gave his last $20 to a lady who was stranded by the side of a busy highway. That act of kindness by the man who would probably go with out food raised him alone $380k because the lady setup a non-profit charity in his name to source the man a ‘chance’ at a new home.

Why can't ‘we’ do that for Paul & Baxter?

Paul said to me that it was ENOUGH that I just sat down to talk to him for 10-15 mins. In fact, what he actually said was ‘that he wanted the stereotypical opinion of passersby to change.’ He hated how people saw him as ‘scum, or a drug addict or..’

Well I would like to help Paul (and others) to change that impression of how people perceive the homeless.

But, what I would really like to do is to make people aware of Paul and Baxter’s current situation so we can give them a chance of a new home..

If we can at least donate £1 each then looking at my followers here we could raise £4,000

Well, we don’t need £4,000 we NEED £370 (as described by Paul himself).

The deadline is Friday 09.11.18 or the landlord Paul is trying to secure a place with will let the room go to other occupants.

So that is at least 400 people from my Instagram Page to take notice of this cause, the deadline is next Friday. If you can contribute anything at all I know Paul would appreciate it.

Thank you.
