Patti's Leukemia Fight! #PattiStrong
Everyone bares a silent battle, that they must fight alone. For Patti, like any other six year old, her battles consisted of eating vegetables and getting along with her siblings. Unfotunately on March 14th everything changed when this radiant child was diagnosed with cancer.
Please help us raise money for this beautiful, courageous little girl. She has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphmblastic Leukemia (ALL) and faces a long road to recovery.
No child should ever have cancer! Please help us support this brave little girl and her family.
All donations will be greatly appreciated.
May God Bless You Always!
I am continually surprised by Patti’s strength, she is very resilient and despite her condition, remains focused on others. The latest development is that she likes to peak into our bedroom at night to make sure that my wife and I are ok. Isn’t this completely ironic that she would be more concerned about whether we are sleeping than with anything else? She is regularly tending to her younger sister and brother. Doesn’t look like either of them will be needing a lawyer anytime soon as she is constantly coming to their defense. Her spirit, sense of humor and love of life is as strong as ever. She keeps tabs on everyone through FaceTime and iMessage on her iPad. I have attached some recent photos of her to the update.
The therapy is becoming stronger with every phase that passes and the next phase commencing next week will be the strongest yet. We are preparing ourselves mentally and spiritually for the challenge ahead as we know everything we have experienced to date will pale in comparison with what the next round of therapy will bring. We continue to take this day by day. As we have done with everything, we will face it with faith, love and the same spirit that has carried us to this point.
We are very flattered by the ongoing support and well wishes from everyone around us. We are truly blessed to be surrounded by such a wonderful community of people who have given so much to our daughter and family (THANK YOU). We ask for your continued prayers for her cure. We believe in the power of prayer and have faith that she will get over this disease. We will need and appreciate all the spiritual support we can get.
Thank you and May God Bless you!

We sincerely hope this message finds everyone doing well! We haven’t been able to speak to all of you personally and wanted to post an update touching on how Patti is doing. For the moment she is doing well and responding to her therapy. We are very blessed.
When your child first receives a cancer diagnosis you are utterly overwhelmed as your world turns completely upside down in moments. Over the coming weeks you adjust to the unthinkable becoming your new normal, you quickly realize just how much we take life for granted. For cancer kids every normal day is like a holiday, a blessed day where they don’t live under the shadow of this terminal disease and they can be a kid again. It’s the simple things like being able to go outside in the sun, going for a swim, having energy to play and laugh with your friends that all become gifts when you are afflicted with this disease.
Throughout this entire process, all the chemotherapies, lumbar punctures, etc, Patti has remained charismatic and full of positive energy. She never allows the disease affect her to a point where she won’t laugh or make a joke. She continually thinks of and is considerate of others, especially those less fortunate than her. We were always told that cancer would bring out the best in her. We always knew she was wonderful and its a blessing to see that the cancer hasn’t dulled her spirit. She is truly the bravest among us. I have placed a photo on this update of Patti just following a treatment that demonstrates my point.
Over the coming weeks we will be working on strengthening Patti and ourselves for the long road ahead. The months from July to September will be the most difficult part of her 2-3 year treatment and we will be focusing on her physical and spiritual nourishment to make sure she is ready for hardest leg of her fight. With your support and continued prayers we hope to keep her energy and charisma high during this difficult time.
We would also ask that you pray that a cure is found. Unfortunately this disease doesn’t discriminate and can happen to any child. While Patti has responded well to her treatment, we know there are countless other children where that isn’t the case. We hope you will join us in praying for a cure and that we all live to see a day when no child has cancer.
May God Bless You Always!

“Leukemia Messed with the wrong Chick!”
We sincerely hope this message finds you all well!
We just completed another week of treatments and Thank God for the time being Patti is responding well to the therapy. Hopefully it will continue. She remains in great spirits due in large part to the support she has received from you, our community of friends and family. As many of you know treating ALL is long and challenging, please know all your efforts to support her have gone a long way to keeping her enthusiasm and energy.
When we began this journey we never wanted to draw attention to ourselves or to Patti’s cancer for a number of reasons. Having lived in Miami for so many years, we both felt that there really wasn’t a sense of community or belonging and that our only support system was our parents and very close friends.
We realized shortly after Patti’s diagnosis that we were completely wrong, the community was around us all along. The sense of community that we have received has been incredible and completely changed the way we look at everyone around us. There are a lot of phenomenally good people in Miami, people who give and care genuinely of themselves to help us during this difficult time.
That being said we felt compelled to thank some folks that have been instrumental in supporting us on this journey.
Firstly I want to thank the team at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital for the amazing care and attention they provide us every single day. The oncology/hematology team and Dr De Angulo have been phenomenal and go to enormous lengths to ensure we get what we need and Patti is well taken care of. We anticipate adopting many of you as extended family over the next couple of years as we go through Patti’s treatment.
It doesn't stop there as the surgical and care teams have been amazing as well. You all know who you are, as there are too many to mention. I can’t count how many NCH employees and staff take time out of their incredibly busy day to come by and comfort Patti. I especially want to call out our friend Ivette de Solo who started this campaign for us and encouraged us to go down this path. Ivette I don’t think you realize what this means to us and that you basically started a movement that has benefitted our daughter spiritually and emotionally during a very difficult time.
Secondly, we want to thank our extended family consisting of the parish at Epiphany Catholic Church, the entire faculty and student body at Epiphany Catholic School. It was through you and your actions that our eyes were opened and we realized that we weren’t alone in this fight. From the beginning with Patti’s class mates and friends, Sister Margaret, Bibi Chisholm, Jennifer Leon, Shannon De Arcos and many others to what eventually felt like a school-wide initiative that involved everything from prayer groups to meals, we felt an amazing sense of support and love that has been our bedrock in getting through this time of our lives. We are incredibly indebted to you and feel very blessed to be a part of the Epiphany parish.
Overall there have been hundreds of friends and family that have supported us in person and through social media. We are incredibly humbled and grateful for your time and energy. I sincerely look forward to thanking and speaking to each and everyone of you in person to let you know what your support has meant to us. Please know that your support is keeping us going and helping to keep a radiant little girl motivated and enthusiastic to get better. We ask that you please share this site through social media so we can continue to get the word out and garner more support.
I am attaching a picture of Patti as she was waiting to undergo her first chemotherapy. A moment that binds us all as we gathered around this little girl in what would become the fight of our lives.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! MAY GOD BLESS YOU!
