PatternNation ImmigrantLessons LA
Vancouver based dance company, Immigrant Lessons, and wearable art visual design label, PatternNation, have been selected to perform in Los Angeles for RAW Artists Showcase this September. In order to make this show possible, we have self funded travel expenses which is the reason we are reaching out and asking our community for support. Through this trip, we hope to inspire the Vancouver art scene to make more global connections and bring awareness to the diversity and richness of culture in our city. The funds raised through this GoFundMe campaign will go directly to paying for accomadations and transportation costs for the 6 artists involved: Cydney Eva Pattern, Kevin Fraser, Alyssa Amarshi, Sophia Gamboa, Sharon Lee and Brotha Jason.
As a collective, we hope to create a bridge between the art scenes of these two major west coast cities and create a network for young diverse creatives. As artists that have all found a home in Vancouver, Canada, we want to showcase art coming out of our city on an international scale. Immigrant Lessons is a dance/art collective created to promote cultural pluralism through: dance, music, fashion, and visual design. PatternNation is a collaborative and inclusive art platform aimed at connecting artists who embrace bold colour and pattern globally using the mediums of fashion, jewelry,murals, installation art and events.
The RAW network spans the globe, featuring over 100k artists in visual art, music, fashion, film, photography, performance art, hair and makeup, and accessories. At this showcase, Immigrant Lessons will be performing all-original choreography in Pattern Nation's boundary pushing streetwear fall collection. This performative collaboration is inspired by Cydney Eva Pattern's recent travels to Engalnd, South Africa, and India.
We will be leaving for LA on September 23rd, performing on the 27th, but will be accepting donations untill September 30th to reimburse the costs we have each fronted. Your support will mean the world to us as every artist invoved is striving to create professional arts careers that will sustain them throughout their lives. As we embark on this journey of passion fueled radical art every little bit of funding we recieve will make opportunities like this possible.
