Type 1 Diabetes Research in Memory of Pat Verfurth

Tax deductible
Pat Verfurth, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend passed away on December 19, 2018.  We, his family and friends, are grieving his death and are preparing a celebration of his life soon to share stories, memories, laughter, tears, music, and food.

However during our time of mourning we also wanted to find a way to give with the generosity that he always showed to others, especially his family.  He made it a priority to support his wife, kids and grandkids in whatever they were pursuing or struggling with at the time, e.g. education goals, big purchases like homes or cars, paying down debt, job relocation, opening a business, etc.  He rarely balked at a request for financial help from his family, as long as they could show good cause and good intention.

Pat's youngest grandson, Elliot, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes (T1D) at the age of 11.  Now 14, Elliot is healthy and thriving and has learned (mostly) how to integrate the daily burden and grind of diabetes management into his teenager lifestyle.  Like millions of other type 1 diabetics, Elliot will remain dependent on daily insulin injections and constant blood sugar surveillance for his entire life.  This worried Pat (a.k.a. "Baba" to Elliot) and left him feeling a bit helpless, which also troubled him.

So as a way of honoring Pat's loving and generous spirit, we are raising funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) in his name.  JDRF is the leading charitable funder and advocate of type 1 diabetes (juvenile diabetes) research worldwide.  And their mission is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.

Please join us in making a difference.  Any donation amount will help make impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to diabetes research and education that means so much to our family.

By joining together we can take up where Baba left off and continue his legacy of support for those who aim high or who may just need a little extra help.
