Parent’s School and Park

Donation protected

I am currently serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in a small town called Chosgón, in the Andes mountains of northern Peru. As a community, Chosgon lacks, substantially, family integration and communication. Together as a community we’ve come together to develop a project to help increase family communication, combat domestic violence and increase gender equality, supporting young girls  and their education. We are implementing a parent’s school, where psychologists, police and heath professionals come twice a month to give classes to parents, and their children, on various themes like self-esteem, goal planning, domestic violence, gender equality, etc. We are also building a park to compliment the parent’s school, where children and their parents (specifically fathers, who generally don’t have a role in raising the kids) can interact and play, fomenting creativity, love and trust within families.  We were so incredibly lucky to have Peace Corps donate to our project, but we are missing a few things like benches for the park, roofs for some playground equipment, paint for the playground, and materials for the parent’s school (notebooks, pens, markers, etc.). If you would please consider donating to our project, as small as it may be, it would mean the world to me and my community!
