Parents house caught on fire today.

Thursday about 4pm my mom called me frantically that their was on fire. By the time I got there the fire department was already there, so I really want to commend Chief Lewis and crew for their quick reaction time. Most important, everyone is safe and ok. My dad has some minor burns trying to put out the fire and my mom did go to the emergency room for Smoke Inhalation, and the stress of the event caused her to faint and hit her head on street, but again home for hospital. My sister who is here now helping my mom, took the brunt of the emotional trauma, as this is here room, that is 100 percent destroyed. Lifetime of pictures are destroyed, the rest can be replaced.

I will be honest, this is the first I have ever dealt with this so I have no experience to gauge how bad this is. I know they cannot live there until it is cleared from Power Company and Building Inspector reissues a certificate of occupancy. So my guess is no home for 2 to 3 weeks, maybe it is longer, again no experience, but we have lots to figure out tomorrow.

For tonight, we got them situated so hopefully they can get some rest and tomorrow we can figure out what's next.

Not sure what can be salvaged, what the fire didn't get, smoke and water took care of.

I am asking friends and family to chip in anything they can not worry about where they are staying while we figure this out. I don't know what insurance covers until tomorrow when we can figure out who to call.

But the uncertainty and stress is what I am trying to alleviate for them, the stress makes my mom faint (so many doctor visits and we have no idea why) and I think my dad is slowly losing his memory. Stress does not help, we had the same conversations over and over today trying to figure this out.
