Hey guys,
If you’ve turned on the local news in the past week, I’m sure you have seen the devastating fire that destroyed Papa Js Ristorante and took the life of a very well known and loved member of the Papa Js community.
I worked at Papa Js for several years throughout my collegiate career and am truly heartbroken by the loss that everyone has encountered/will continue to encounter for the next several months to come. I did see a GoFund me page for the residents of the apartments that top Papa Js, but I haven’t seen anything for the employees of the restaurant.
As we all know, finding a new job at the drop of a dime is not the easiest thing in today’s economy. What we don’t know is that many employees are dependent on their biweekly paychecks and tips to pay their bills and provide for their families.
A handful of employees have worked at the restaurant for well over 15 years and several employees recently had newborn babies. The unexpected loss of a critical pay check could potentially force some hard working individuals from their homes and make it impossible to provide for their families during their job searches.
This truly breaks my heart. If I could provide all of the help on my own, I would in a heartbeat; however, I’m not that fortunate.
I plan to give all of the money raised to Micheal Troiani (the owner of Papa Js) for him to give out to the employees. I wasn’t sure what to make the goal for this, but please know that every dollar counts. Together, we can help the Papa Js family
see some light at the end of the tunnel during this horrendous time for all.
