Paella House - Life After Cancer

Donation protected
Hello! My name is Alejandro, and I live in Port Townsend, Washington, with my wife Heidi and my two beautiful children.

In 2014 we created Paella House and started cooking paella at the local farmers market and for private events.  In our first year of operations we have accomplished great things and have received quite the support from our neighbors.

Unfortunately, 2015 has been the biggest challenge in our lives together so far.

Heidi was diagnosed with breast cancer in April of last year, changing our lives forever.  She was just 34 and had recently finished breastfeeding our son.  She was working with children at the Headstart program and with her immune system being heavily compromised, her oncologist advised her to quit her job to avoid infections during her chemotherapy.  Heidi underwent surgery to remove part of her breast and suffered through fourteen rounds of chemotherapy before the nerve damage in her fingers and toes became so bad that she was unable to finish her treatment.

At the same time Heidi was undergoing chemotherapy, we were working on our business and taking care of our children.  Without her income, we have been living off of our savings and the income from Paella House, but those savings are now depleted.  Port Townsend is a small town with little to no employment opportunities.  We want to make our business succeed so that we can stay and raise our children here.

To take our company to the next level we really need your help.  We want to streamline our work and be more efficient so that we can attend the large festivals.  Having our own food trailer will help us get there, but we need to build it fast so that we can have it ready before the summer.  We want to build a trailer that looks like a house from the coast of Spain, from which we will be cooking our paellas.

By helping us:

You are contributing to a family that needs a break after a terrible, life changing year but want to continue pursuing their dream.

You are supporting healthy food with ingredients sourced from local, organic farms.

You are contributing to a family that is passionate about what they do and where they live.
We believe in good food, in good people and community.

Thank you very much for taking the time to learn about our story.  We would be forever grateful if you could please share this with your contacts.
