Gordo the cat needs a new penis

Gordo's penis was literally scraped off on the roadway. 
Gordo was saved from death on Friday, September 29, 2017.  While driving to work about 7:30 am, I slowed at a busy intersection turn lane.  Suddenly, I saw a kitten fall from the undercarriage of the car next to me.  I started honking and motioning to the driver,  she just shrugged and mouthed she didn't know what to do.   So,  luckily we hit another red light.  I jumped out of my truck and another woman in another car did the same.  She got down on the ground and yanked the terrified kitten from the car engine, she handed it to me and we both ran back to our vehicles just as the light turned green Traffic moved forward as usual - and I had a kitten in my arms. 
   The kitten spent the day in my classroom and loved the attention my students showed him.  My students were great with him.  I saw no signs of injury except burned and curled whiskers.  
   But later as the vet was doing an examination,  something looked strange.  So, after a thorough examination, we discovered the 'she' was a  'he' - except his penis appeared to have been scraped off.  They speculate that he had been dragged for some time under that car. 
 Gordo cannot urinate without extreme pain.  He cries and growls when he tries and often squats in the litterbox for a long time.   He has incontinence at times because he can't feel himself urinating.  We neutered him so the vet could get a better idea of what had happened while under anesthesia.  It was as bad as they thought.   He developed a bladder infection and was treated with medication about 2 weeks later. 
 We have been watching to see if the orifice will heal naturally  - but it does not appear to be happening.  
   The Vet (Coffee Road Animal Hospital) is recommending reconstructive surgery to reopen the urethra and do whatever else is necessary.  They may have to remove the entire penis to accomplish this.    They are quoting us $1500 - $2000 for this procedure.  
   I am a widowed school teacher with limited funds.  I simply cannot afford this expense.   The only other option is to euthanize him.   This would be heartbreaking after all he has already endured - with such a sweet spirit.
   Despite all his pain and the whole horrible experience, Gordo has a sweet, loving personality.  He has befriended my dogs and loves to hang out with them.  He likes to be held and will purr very loudly.  
   Please help me give this little miracle kitten a chance at a normal life.   He has survived so much already - he deserves our help.  
   Gordo needs this surgery ASAP.    His penis is gone and is not going heal without your help.    Please donate to help this little guy.
