Who Am I ?
My name is Piotr Zieba and I am PhD student at University of Agriculture, Faculty of Biotechnology and Horticulture in Krakow, Poland. My master thesis focused on the influence of substrate on biochemical composition of oyster mushroom. My relationship with mushroom started with activity in student science club which I have started at my university with friends. Although my self-made mushrooms lab is still working, it needs betterment to improve my research, allowing me performing more high-tech science experiments.
My dream
My mushroom lab is now about 150 m2, with possibility of adaptation as much space again. I have whole dream in my mind what exactly I want to do to make perfect mushroom laboratory allowing me, other university employees and young students to study and work with mushrooms from spores to fruit bodies. Sad reality
Being PhD student in Poland is hard work, with minimal scholarship and almost no money for innovative, new ideas. I am really lucky to have my own place where I can work with mushrooms and wonderful and helpful people to cooperate with, but without financial support I can’t expand my knowledge, test new ideas in mushroom cultivation. I have tried many ways to find some financial support , but I have only bounced off the wall and bureaucracy…
What I want to do
Although amount of money that I need is much, even few % of it can help me improving working conditions for me and people I cooperate. Whole estimated what I need to buy You can find on my Facebook page but below I have written my steps for perfect Mushroom Cultivation Center:
Step 0 - 10% of goal
Absolute minimum that will allow me to rebuild my rotten tunnel and let me buy secondhand high pressure laboratory sterilizer.
Step 1 – 50% of goal
Basic mushroom lab – painting walls, changing lights and doors – some low cost renovation of whole lab to make it look better and function better. Buying some necessary stuff like UV lamps, few HEPA filters and many, many more – but still everything will be planned and thoughtful.
Step 2 – 100% and above of goal – Mushroom Cultivation Center !
Full amount of my gofunding allow me to build new fruiting chambers with full climate control. Perfect controlled conditions adjusted for common and rare mushroom species. A modern mushroom lab that I will be proud of. My dream that can come true! All money will be spent on mushroom science – from building the center, via chemical analyzes to scientific papers.
Any finical support I will get will be settlement like science grant and everything I will buy will be presented online!
Formality
My crowd funding action is supported by Dean of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Horticulture, as You can see below. Mushroom Cultivation Center will be non commercial project, a research and education center for researchers and students. As gofundme doesn't work with Polish back account, my action is registered on my sister who lives in Germany.
