Nathan’s road to recovery

On May 6th, 2019 I got a call around 10am from a Social Worker from a hospital telling me my brother was a victim in a shooting and to bring all my family to the hospital. Upon getting to the hospital we were informed Nathan was shot in the head and face by a shot gun while he was riding in the backseat of a car. Another driver pulled up along side the vehicle my brother was in and began firing. Nathan was the only one injured. They said Nathan was responsive to the paramedics but they did sedate him in the ambulance due to the extent of his injuries. Nathan was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was helping a friend move heavy kitchen equipment when this happened. 

Nathan has multiple brain bleeds from the pellets hitting his head. They did an initial surgery to remove most of the pellets but due to swelling they could not remove the rest. There are still about 2-3 pellets left. One of the pellets pierced through both of his eyes and as of right now it is unknown if he will end up permanently blind. 


 Nathan is everyone’s best friend. He lights up a room with his smile. He loves being around his family, especially his nieces and nephew. He’s a very genuine person with a heart of gold. Whenever anyone needed help whether it was family or friends, Nathan was there in a heart beat. Nathan is a very hands on guy, always has been. So with the possibility of him not being able to see or fully function due to the brain bleeds will affect his life in ways we can’t get even imagine.  


Because of the extent of Nathan’s injuries he will not be able to work for a very long time. He was recently let go from a job as a mechanic. He has always been a hands on guy and a hands on learner so this is going t be very hard for him to recover. Any donation will go to Nathan for his future because the employment aspect is unknown as of right now.
