Study Abroad in China

Hi everyone!
My name is Ernesto Ye Luo and I have recently finished my first year of college at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. I am from San Francisco, California, but I was born and raised in Panama. My family is Hakka Chinese and I was raised speaking Hakka at home only. However, I am passionate about learning languages, especially Mandarin. In my first two semesters at Wesleyan, I took two Mandarin courses: Elementary Chinese for Heritage Learners and Intermediate Chinese. This summer, I am planning to study third-year Chinese in Beijing for eight weeks through the Princeton in Beijing program!
However, my family and I are currently facing financial barriers and we are in need of financial assistance. Both of my parents work in minimum-wage jobs to support my two brothers and I. Although I have received a lot of scholarships to pay for college at Wesleyan, we still occasionally face issues with paying for rent and housing back in San Francisco. The total cost of the program is $5,800, but that does not include the costs of flight tickets, books, meals, and other miscellaneous expenses. So far, I have only received $4,000 scholarships and a $1,800 subsidized loan to pay for the costs of the program.
In addition to working in the summer, I am hoping to raise some money to repay my loan and to cover for the rest of the program costs. My goal is to raise $1,500, but any donation amount would be very helpful! Although I understand that not everyone will have the financial means to contribute for this fundraiser, I would appreciate it even if you could share this fundraiser! Thank you so much for your support!
Sincerely,
Ernesto Ye Luo
