Bekki & Nate's IVF Fund

We are Bekki and Nate Dibble and our crazy life journey began shortly after we got marred on 10/1/11. Soon after our wedding, I had begun to get very sick and we were not sure why. It wouldnt' be until October 2013, when life as we knew it would change forever.

It started out as any other day, but ended in a trip to the ER and a 4 day stay. The Doctors had determined I had an internal bleed from a tumor that was 7 cm and many others throughout the liver. They still didn't know exactly what the tumor was and thought there was a possibility of it being cancerous. After a biopsy, they decided they were Hepatic Adenomas and needed to be surgically removed as soon as possible and a chance that the tumors could become cancerous in the future.

I was later set up for a Liver Resection at Einstein in December- which never happened. I had ended up having a severe anaphylactic reaction to the anesthesia and the surgery was never performed. My surgery was finally performed on 1/3/14 and the surgeons were able to remove the large tumor and 2 beside it, but had to leave several other tumors behind because of their positioning. It was a long and expensive road to recovery thereafter.

In September 2015, Nate and I finally decided that we were ready to finally try for the family we always wanted. My liver was ready and so was I. We knew we would need to talk to my specialist and consult a reproductive doctor due to the complication of the liver, but never expected the results I had gotten. After months of waiting and radiology reports, we were finally told that I would never be able to carry my own child. It would be too risky with my liver because the tumors grow from estrogen increases in the body.

Nate and I were devastated by the news but luckily an amazing thing happened- my sister offered to be our gestational carrier because she was also faced with the possibility of not becoming pregnant through her own fertility struggles and she understood how we felt. It has been a long road and am super happy now to know that we can at least still have a biological child with my sister as the carrier. It has been a painful road full of sadness and anger at the circumstances, but the joy of having a child far outweighs any of the struggles we are currently going through.

The last piece of news that was hard to swallow was the overwhelming cost. For 1 cycle of IVF, the cost is $20,000, and on top of it, I found out that I would not receive any paid time off from work, other than my own vacation days. This fact has really added insult to injury.

This money would help us to pay for expenses of the egg retrieval and implantation(IVF), the expensive medications, and for any expenses incurred by my sister when she is pregnant. As many of you know, Nate and I cannot wait to start a family of our own and can see how much we love children in the ways we love being with our own nieces and nephews.

We thank everyone in advance for all of the love and support everyone has shown us in this extremely difficult time.

Much Love,

Bekki & Nate Dibble
