Hello,
My name is Christopher Powers. I am writing to you on behalf of my brother Patrick and our family. For those of you who don't know, Patrick had major bowel resection and stomach surgery to correct a problem that had gone un-diagnosed for some time and which had escalated to the point of rupture.
The surgery took almost nine hours and was complicated by his heart going into rapid atrial fibrillation during the procedure and stopping for 2 and a half minutes.
After the surgery, one of his incisions became infected and developed two major infection sites that would require major wound care and home nurses for several months. He was re-hospitalized when he developed a C-diff (Clostridium difficile) infection and DVT related blood clots in his lungs.
As a self employed print and web designer, Pat was paying for his own medical and eventually was unable to hang onto coverage for himself as his financial situation was impacted by his illness.
This whole ordeal has exhausted his personal savings, left him with a large pile of medical bills and other expenses that need to be addressed until he's recovered and back to work and he needs your help. Please consider donating and sharing this link to aid him.
Udate: Pat had mesh hernial repair surgery to fix the tearing of his abdominal wall. The incision developed a seroma and a deep wound that is being treated by a home nurse with vacuum pump therapy. He is incredibly grateful for you well wishes, donations and continued sharing of this link, as well as all positive thoughts and prayers.
Update: Patrick has continued to have problems with the hospital acquired C-diff infection that has come back several times since undergoing his two surgeries. During that time he also developed kidney issues and is currently being treated for those.
