Hi! Our names are Emily Sylvanowicz and Vicki Tzortzis.
Recently, our hearts were heavy and we felt a strong need to give back to those less fortunate and want to travel to different places to do so.
We feel it is necessary to give back to others while appreciating what we have in our own lives.
Our inititive began in the winter of 2016 while throwing some ideas around.
We decided it would be in our best interest to stay in the United States for our first volunteer project and then slowly make our way out of the country to volunteer abroad.
In the summer of 2017, we plan on volunteering in New Orleans, Louisiana.
As most people know, in August of 2005, Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. What a lot of people don't know, however, is that it's been over 10 years and people are still homeless because of the effects.
*Recently, a devistating tornado hit the New Orleanian community, leaving families homeless again.
Our plan is to travel to New Orleans with the United Saints Recovery Project to rebuild homes and lives of those affected by the many natural disasters in New Orleans.
The money we raise will be spend on transportation but will also cover the cost of accomodatoins provided by USRJ. It's costs $35/night, food & water included.
Airfare for the two of us is about $900 total.
In total, about $1,000 ($970 to be exact)
The remaining money raised will be donated to Hands On New Orleans, a non-profit organization that shares the same goals as Vicki and me: to serve others struggling in the communities of New Orleans
Our main goals are to help others. That can only be made possible with your help. Any donation is appreciated. Please please share this page with your friends and family. We need all the help we can get.
