Our Journey with Ethan

Grandma's Mission Angels will be helping out our new friend, Ethan Szumetz.  He is an 8 year old that was diagnosed with FOP (Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva).

This disease  causes bone to form in muscles, tendons, ligaments and other connective tissues.  There is a trial drug available, however Ethan suffers from flare ups that cause his bones to lock.  Until he has gone 6 months or more with no flare ups he does not qualify.  He is currently getting chemo treatments to attempt to stop them so he can participate.  Currently there is 800 cases in the world and approximately 300 cases in the US.  Ethan being one.  The life expanctancies for this disease is only to their early 20's.  He is being treated at Phillys Childrens Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.  So you can only imagine the cost of these trips back and forth.
Eventually Ethan may need electronics to help him communicate.

He is the son of Tara and Marshall and has a 10 year old sister, Abby.  So on top of the normal family duties, there is other medical duties that they have to adhere to.

Lets come together and help this family lessen the burden of medical expenses.
