Our Eviction Re-Housing Fund

Donation protected
Change: Because we are going to be moving this month (April) we have changed the name of our campaign to the Our Eviction Re-Housing Fund. We're hoping to receive enough to cover the first month's rent on a much less expensive place, the security deposit for said place, pay for movers because we just cannot physically move  our furniture any more, and pay off our current Gas and Electric bill so they'll turn them on in the new place. So, if there's any amount you can contribute, we will be extremely grateful.
======================================
Some New information: We ended up having to go to court even though we paid all the rent in March. Yes, it was late and on the 30th of March, but we paid it thanks to all of you. Unfortunately we are still in dire straights. We need to have $1,985 by the 11th of April or we *will* have the Marshals at the door and physically moving us out. If you have already donated, we thank you from the the very depths of our being. If you haven't made a donation, I ask you to please consider making one today. Thank you. Original Post:Anyone who knows me well knows that asking for help is hard for me. I'm fiercely independent and a pull-yourself-up-by-the-bootstraps kind of person. But this situation has me hanging on by my fingernails. Everyone tries their hardest to make a go at living their lives. But unfortunately things happen beyond our control and we have to ask for help. Arthur, my hard working fiance, has been out of work since the 1st of December 2017. He's a software engineer and has been getting lots of calls from job recruiters, but so far has not had an interview with an employer. The only actual face-to-face interview he had was in January with a recruiter. He has been receiving Unemployment, but it's not enough to cover all our bills. In February we were almost evicted. In fact we had to go to court to answer an eviction summons. We had paid part of the rent, but not enough to be granted any leeway by the company that owns our rental complex. We were able to work out a payment plan for both the back rent AND the Legal Fees. By the grace of God and Arthur's Federal Tax Refund we were able to pay the back rent, but we weren't able to cover the fees right away. We did manage to come up with the funds and pay the fees. So in March our rent, which is normally $1310.00, was $1510.00. Why the increase?? Apparently they are court costs that weren't figured into the payment plan because the lawyer for the Company hadn't been told what they were going to be. So they just tacked them onto our rent bill with no explanation. (We finally asked the manager about it and she explained.) Arthur is trying hard to find a job (all of which is done online these days) but, until a recruiter calls to setup an interview, our finances are in desperate straits. Besides the rent, we trying to keep the electricity turned on, the phones turned on, the car from being repossessed, and food in the house for 5 people, 3 of whom are disabled and receive either Social Security Disability or SSI. (The newest member of the family is currently waiting to get in to see our family practitioner and get a diagnosis for issues that had been ignored by their blood relations.) In the meantime, while we wait for Arthur to get a job and I work desperately to balance the budget, we are forced to ask for help. We have been calling the various organizations that help people but with little joy. One will help with rent only after we get turned down by Social Services. And it takes forever to get into see someone at Social Services. Another can't help because we're in Greece, not Rochester. There are others we will be trying, but I'm not sure what help, if any, they can give. We will all be grateful for any help we receive from you. It will mean the world to us.  And I hope that you join us in the wish that Arthur gets a job soon so we can get out of this mess.  Thank you all.
