WHAT AM I RAISING MONEY FOR?
As most of you know, running has been apart of my life since middle school. Recently an opportunity was presented to me to relocate to Arizona to further my running career to train with a past distance Olympic medalist/coach, be managed/marketed (free of charge) by a nationally known agency, and begin my path to becoming a professional track athlete and qualifying for the 2020 Olympics. This opportunity will allow me to continue to follow the path that was  always laid out for me. Unfortunately, my family and I are unable to financially jumpstart this journey 100%, but with your support, your shares, and your resources I will be able to start this new chapter of my life.

Get to know me:
My name is Shannon Morton and am from Chesapeake, Va. I graduated Virginia Tech in 2017 with my Bachelors in Human Development. I was a fully scholarshipped member of the Cross Country, Indoor/Outdoor VT Track and Field team.
In 2017, my senior year and at the peak of collegiate career,  I dealt with an ongoing injury that forced me call my season short.

Today I am happy to say I am healthy, I am fast, I am strong, I am focused, and I am determined to go after my only childhood dream of becoming a professional runner and qualifying for the 2020 Olympic Games. Nothing is more important to me then being able to utilize my God given talents to make a difference in this sport and peoples lives.

It is a little known fact that I am adopted. This is something that I have kept in the shadows for my entire life. I now know God has given me this gift on the track to be used as a tool to empower other adopted athletes. It would be awesome to join the ranks of other adopted Olympians and be a light and advocate for others to truly understand that adoption is a beautiful and heart-warming experience.

Here is a picture of my heros, my family.
