Operation: Reunite Megan & Kacy

Donation protected
Megan and I met online over a year ago. I saw her make a post about something concerning and messaged her to make sure she was okay. What started out as us giving each other someone to vent to quickly turned into us falling for each other. We learned the ins and outs of everything that caused us pain and suddenly realized that we both wanted to bring each other happiness.

Immediately, we started planning how we were going to be together. How does a goofy American boy get to a radiant South African girl? We eventually settled on Portugal. Her grandmother lives there half the year and has been wanting her to come for a month during the summer. So, I saved up for my ticket and, come July, I was on my way to Lisbon.

(Goofing off in Parede)

The three weeks we had together were beautiful, amazing, joyful, and exhilarating but nowhere near enough. As we kissed each other goodbye before my flight home, the airport attendant at the gate sang a soft, heartbreaking song. I've never had so much trouble getting my own legs to move as I had to get to my gate on time. Needless to say, neither of us stopped crying until we were miles away from each other once again.

From that moment on, we've been trying to save up to bring Megan here to the states for a few months. Especially now, while she still can (who knows what kinds of immigration/visa legislation changes will be made in the next year alone). But with me not making ends meet on my own bills and the exchange rate of South African currency being what it is, we're not getting anywhere fast.

This campaign is for her round trip ticket here (in time for Christmas) and back (hopefully in March). Since the holidays are coming up, it's a bit extra expensive, so we need at least $1000 just to cover the cost of the trip. Anything more, though, would gladly be welcomed and intensely appreciated, as we're both still going to be low on funds while she's here.

We're hoping to get her here by December 17th at the earliest and December 24th at the latest. But, as I'm sure most of you are aware, the closer to Christmas, the higher the price starts to get.

Any donation, even just a few dollars, would mean the world to us. Just knowing that people give enough of a damn to spare a bit to help us be together during the holidays warms our hearts beyond measure. We promise to do what we can as thanks to anyone who donates, as well. Anything from handmade Christmas cards to personalized videos showing our thanks to a spaghetti dinner, really.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that your donation would also be helping Megan see her first legitimate snow. She's seen some flurries in the mountains in southern South Africa, but that's nothing in comparison to what we get here in Maryland in February. If the thought of reuniting a cute couple who are normally an ocean and a hemisphere away from each other isn't enough, hopefully helping her witness the magic of a first big snow will be a small nudge.
