Ginger Dog needs oral surgery

“Everybody loves Ginger”. If I had a nickel for every time someone has asked me if we could clone this sweet girl, we’d have enough to pay for her oral surgery plus a nice little retirement stash! Ginger spent her early years as a certified therapy dog. She came to us as a rescue after an unfortunate incident where she was traumatized. At the time my 6 year old daughter had some sensory challenges and was very afraid of dogs. We were hoping Ginger’s experience as a therapy dog would make her a good fit for our family’s needs and we knew we would provide her with a safe and loving home.
When we met her it was love at first sight and she rode home in the car on my daughter’s lap. Ginger and both of our girls were all smiles on that first drive home! Since then she has been our constant companion. When we lived in Portland she went everywhere with me. She was even invited to hang out in the office and attend classes with me when I worked with preschoolers at a community center! Everybody loves Ginger. She’s easy going, sweet and unassuming. She’s sensitive and senses when someone needs a couch buddy or a lap dog. She jumps into anyone’s car because she’s just sure they’re going someplace fun!
For about a year or two we have had to give Ginger soft food only as she couldn’t eat hard kibble anymore. We thought it was picky old senior dog tummy troubles as she would vomit if we tried to feed her anything but taste of the wild Salmon. But more recently Ginger’s breath has been getting so bad that I knew there was something bad going on in there. This week we had a vet consult for surgery as she needs to have most of her teeth removed. The vet says she is probably experiencing quite a bit of pain in her mouth constantly. This breaks my heart! I want to do whatever I can to help her.
The problem is, Ginger needs surgery that will cost near $1,000 at a time when we literally don’t have it - money is super tight, we recently drained our savings for medical and living expenses and any bit of money left over from bills is needed for my own health journey.
So here’s something I never imagined myself doing because I didn’t know I would care for an animal this much - asking for help to cover these expenses. Can you help? I know so many people have expressed love for Ginger over the years and I’m hoping we can all rally around her now and give her a less painful, better quality of life. She needs and deserves it . Thanks for considering. ❤️
