Business skills for women in Gambia

Donation protected
My name is Cath Harris and I’ve recently founded a new non-profit called One World Women to enable business women the world over to share their skills, develop their businesses and grow their economies.

What is One World Women?
We partner experienced business women with ambitious female entrepreneurs from developing countries for hands-on, in-country coaching and skills development. The first pilot programme will take part in November 2018 where a group of five women with a mixed set of business skills and experience will spend one week mentoring five aspiring business women in The Gambia. The second cohort is already being planned for early 2019. These tailored programmes are self-funded thanks to the support of inspiring women who are passionate about giving something back to those who have not benefited from the same opportunities in education, training, technology and funding.

Why did I set this up?
Whilst on holiday in The Gambia I had the fortune to meet the inspirational Ida Cham. Ida uses the profit from her cookery school to microloan small amounts to women to help them start their own businesses. I was inspired and suggested coming back with a group of business women to help this cause even further – weeks later One World Women was born.

How can you help?
Setting up and funding an early stage charity initiative like this requires both time and funding. By donating you will be helping to;
- Directly impact the future of aspirational business women in The Gambia by providing the opportunity to receive coaching and mentoring in business management, sales, marketing and finance management
- In turn, help women from developing countries to sustain and grow their own businesses and provide for their families
- Enable us to design and launch a new website and marketing activity to spread our message to a wider audience
- Enable us to develop robust legal foundations in order to enable us approach corporate partners for sponsorship
- Accelerate future programmes and projects in new territories
- Support the United Nation's mission to achieve equality in the workplace - 50:50 by 2020

All donations however small would be very gratefully received. If you are interested in finding out more about One World Women or participating in a future programme, please follow @OneWorldWomen1 or www.facebook.com/OneWorldWomen
