My name is Robbie Donnelly, and I am a resident of Hugh's House.
Hugh's House provides accomodation for the parents and families of sick children in Temple Street Children's Hospital, Hollis Street Hospital and The Rotunda.
My son Henry Donnelly was born with Down Syndrome, has recently had a Tracheostomy to assist with his breathing, and also undergone chemotherapy treatment for Acute Myeloid Leukemia. As my family (myself, my wife and 2 other children) live in County Offaly, I have been a resident of Hugh's House for over 1 year now, which means that I have had a home from home so I can take care of my son whilst he is in Dublin.
Hugh's House provides a safe haven for families from all over the country (free of charge) for parents and families, free meals, free electricity, free broadband and the comfort of a place to call home whilst your child is being taken care of in hospital.
My goal is to walk one million steps during January 2017, being counted daily with the use of a pedometer. That's about 32,258 steps a day, and all of the money raised will mean that Hugh's House can provide continued accomodation for families of sick children from outside of Dublin, whilst their children are being cared for in Dublin.
