One School, One Mission....... Clean Water

Anne Arundel County Public Schools recently conducted water quality tests through out all of their schools. It was found that several schools had lead in the water supply and those sinks and fountains were identified and labeled.
"One hundred forty(140) lead water samples were collected from Annapolis Middle School. Of these lead water samples, seventeen (17) had levels of lead exceeding the action level of 20 parts per billion for lead in drinking water in school buildings."
Many of the SGA officers ran with clean drinking water as part of their campaign. We are trying to raise funds to replace the water fountains that currently exist in our building. The water fountains we currently have are not sanitary and are often not used. The student body of Annapolis Middle School consistently complains about the water being warm and tasting metallic.
We the students of AMS are concerned with the environment and raising money for water filling stations that would help reduce the number of plastic bottles being used and the impact of lead contamination. We have an additional fundraiser with the school's Literacy Committee to sell t-shirts along with reading A Long Walk To Water that will shine the light on the global issue of clean drinking water for all.
Because of water quality and environmental concerns we are looking to purchase seven Elkay filtered water bottle stations and drinking fountains for our school.
The members of the Student Government Association and the students of Annapolis Middle School would be very thankful for any donations made to our cause of clean drinking water for all students.
