ONE BIG SHAVE

Donation protected
Hey there... Ollie Jowett here!

As most will already know, last year (2017) I was diagnosed with a Grade II Brain Tumour on the front right lobe of my brain. Finding out this news at the young age of 21 was devastating. However, I quickly turned a negative into a positive and decided to do something proactive about my situation.

So I decided to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity and on 25th November 2017 I hosted 'One Big Workout' and what a day it was! Over 130+ people in attendance and a grand total of £4078 raised - an overwhelming amount and a day I will never forget.

Next month (March) is Brain Tumour Awareness Month and I want to do something 'big' again. I have plans to hold another charity workout event later in 2018, but I fancy doing something different this time. In fact, I've decided to keep the theme 'big' and do 'One Big Shave' - yes, I will be shaving my (beloved) hair! (Note: For anyone that knows me, they will know that a) I love my hair and b) its a fairly distinct feature of mine). So whilst it isn't burpees this time, shaving my head will be a pretty big deal for me!

Being honest, this year has seen some big changes already for me. I've had to cut down my working hours by HALF due to the chronic fatigue that I incur on a regular basis along with the persistent headaches and weakness. Living with a brain tumour isn't easy, in fact it's really hard. I may be a smiley self most of the time, but I am usually struggling. Whilst I've decided to offput the option of surgery or chemo for now, I am exploring other medicinal alternatives, which come with a cost. The money raised as part of this event will help fund my medicine, treatments and supplements along with donations to the charity of my choice, The Brain Tumour Charity.

The 'One Big Shave' will be streamed LIVE on Facebook for you to watch (and probably laugh at!). I am asking that you donate generously - I have the big target of raising £3360 to help me fund my alternative treatments and to give me the best chance at beating this awful disease. If I can get 168 people to donate £20 then this will allow me to achieve this target, but if you can spare even just a £1, then this too will go a long way.

The road ahead is going to be challenging (and scary) but it is your support, love and kindness which is giving me the motivation to try and beat this.
