Tristan's Lymphedema Treatment

Donation protected
Tristan’s lymphedema is exhausting for him. Day to day activities including play and walking enjoyed by most 3 year olds is challenging for Tristan. Tristan wears special compression bandages during these day to day activities, and for his nightly routine he spends 4 hours having his sleeping  wraps applied, as seen is the picture below.

Because this disease is so rare there are very few doctors in Canada or the U.S that specialize in treating Lymphedema and there is no cure.
Tristan's parents reached out for help outside of Canada and found Dr Becker in France who did the first three surgeries on Tristan last summer: liposuction, biopsy and circumcision. Now Tristan needs a transplant and as per Dr Becker advice, he needs to return to Paris.
For Tristan and his family it will mean flying to France again, paying for the surgery and costs while he recovers. This time it's estimated to be around $40,000.

Health insurance companies  and Alberta Health will not cover the cost of most treatments for lymphedema and, most importantly, will not cover the cost of surgery.
Tristan is booked to have Lymph Nodes Transplant on June 7th, 2016.

Because Tristan is so young the chances of having the LNT done with success is greater and with this success will help many other kids around the world and help bring awareness to this condition and other treatment options not available in North America.

GoFundMe account was created but not utilized since Tristan's parents were able to cover the cost of his first three surgeries in Paris: liposuction, biopsy & circumcission.

We found a great doctor with a huge experience on it. Our goal is to start working with her and to analyse what's going on in Tristan's body.
All research and in case of the surgery will be outside of Canada,
Dr. Corinne Becker

But her real training was performed in France in plastic surgery, hand surgery and microsurgery. She had the big honour to work with Pr Michon, Tubiana, Merle, Gilbert, Hidden, Riquet), and in Germany with Pr Muhlbauer.

She combined  her work with short travels all around the world for training, congresses and research programs.
Her research in anatomy (many flaps discoveries), biochemistry on neurotrophic hormones and in lymphology (anatomy, histology, isotopy, radiology, genetic, biochemistry) were performed from her 2nd year of medicine till now.

Dr Becker now works in Paris, at clinic Jouvenet, clinic Hartmann, the American Hospital in Paris and at the European University Hospital Georges-Pompidou. She also operates in New York at the Ear and Eye Infirmary Hospital, which depends of the New York University (in the team of B.Allen, J.Levine).
We are planning to see Dr Becker as soon as we can.
